BENFITS OF NJINGA PROTEIN RECOVERY SMOOTHIES

Exercise results in body tissue breakdown so post exercise nutrition is vital for the following reasons:

* To repair & build muscles
* To replenish muscle and liver glycogen stores
* To rehydrate
* To lower Cortisol levels – inhibiting protein breakdown

Njinga advocates Protein Recovery Smoothies to be consumed within 15 minutes of exercise as the body is more receptive to absorption of the vital nutrients and will lead to a quicker recovery. Read on to find out the top 5 benefits of our Recovery Smoothies:

The Benefit of Protein Recovery Smoothies after exercise:

1. REPAIRS YOUR MUSCLES:

During a tough workout your muscle fibres are put under a lot of pressure and as a result begin to sustain damage. In order to repair and rebuild your muscle fibres you need protein which encourages healthy recovery and muscular growth.

2. FASTER RECOVERY:

Protein powder is high in nutrients and also contains a low number of calories. After exercise, your body needs that nutrition to aid its recovery, whilst the low calories and ‘liquid meal’ make the smoothie easier to digest and quicker to absorb.

3. SPEEDS UP DELIVERY OF OXYGEN TO YOUR MUSCLES:

We add to the Njinga Recovery Smoothie raw cacao which is full of antioxidants and natural levels of caffeine. This helps to widen and relax your blood vessels so that your blood can distribute oxygen more effectively through your muscles.

4. PREVENT MUSCLE SORENESS:

We also add bananas to the smoothies, which is a source of potassium. Potassium is an electrolyte which helps to prevent post workout cramps and soreness.

5. REPLACES LOST CARBOHYDRATES:

The protein in the Recovery Smoothies helps increase the rate at which muscles absorb the carbohydrates. The natural sugars in fruits will help restore glycogen levels in the muscles and replace these lost carbs.

At Njinga we use vegan protein so there are no adverse effects with people’s stomach. The recovery smoothies are suitable for people with intolerances/allergies. They contain no additives, preservatives, dairy, gluten or soya. However, we do use almond milk to make them so if you are allergic to nuts these will not be suitable.
